How to Create a Strategic Planning Initiative (SPI)


This article will provide the steps necessary in creating a Strategic Planning Initiative (SPI)



  1. Click on the link provided below to find the WSU Strategic Plan webpage
  2. Scroll down until you reach the yellow "Assessment and tracking" box
    • Select the white "Create new initiative" box
    • You will be prompted to provide your myWSU login 
    • Immediately following your login, you will be prompted with the DUO Authentification (if applicable) so be sure to have your device with you
  3. Filling out the Initiative
    • The "Leader" is automatically populated with your name. The Leader should be the person who will be updating the initiative and its tactics. Be sure that the proper name is filled in
    • Be sure to fill in as much as you can about your initiative. If you are unsure as to what a field is asking, click the little blue circle with the question mark inside for the "help".
    • Be sure to gain local financial approval first and select "Yes" on the form. If you select "No," the form will be routed back to you for this important step.
    • When you have included all the necessary information required for your Initiative, select the yellow "Request" button found at the bottom of the page.
  4. The next screen to appear will ask, "What do you want to do now?" 
    • You can do one of three things
      • "Create another request of this type" will allow you create another Initiative
      • "View the request you just created"  show your Initiative in the Client Portal
      • Or "View you ticket requests", will take you to the Client Portal as well. But it will automatically show you any requests, that are classified as "New", "In Process", and "On Hold"
