Mapping a Network Drive

Summary

This article provides step by step instructions for how to map a network drive for both Windows and Mac.

Body

Windows

  1. Go to the File explorer. (The file icon pinned in the bar at the bottom). 
  2. Right Click “This PC” in the bar on the left hand side. 
  3. Select Map Network drive. 
  4. Pick a drive, usually y or z. 
  5. Type in the folder you wish to map. The two most common folders we map are listed below. You will need to do steps 1-4 twice to map them both. 

Common Folders:

\\ad.wichita.edu\UCATS\WSUTechs_Share 

 \\filesvc-306\engr_software

 

Mac

  1. Click on the desktop or a finder window. (The menu bar should say finder next to the apple icon.)
  2. Press Command+K
  3. In the Server Address field, type smb://server/path/to/share
  4. Optionally, you can then click the + button to the right of the server address field to add the share to the favorites.
  5. Click connect.
