Sophos is now run on a cloud (not in Tech_share).
To install Sophos follow these instructions:
1. Click either click anywhere in the desktop and select “command” + “spacebar” OR click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your menu bar.
2. In the text field type “self service”
3. his should open the self service WSU window. On the left hand side of the screen, at bottom click the “security” tab. If you are unable to get the WSU window to pop up, then this Mac has not yet been established by the university and you will need to follow those instructions (found in Knowledge base) to get it set up under WSU.
4. Then you can select either “uninstall old sophos and reinstall new” or “install sophos”
If Uninstalling Sophos does not work in self service:
Uninstalling sophos in this manner does not always work, so you may have to manually un-install it before you can install the new version.
1. To do this once again use the spotlight feature by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the menu bar or by clicking anywhere in the desktop and typing “command” + “spacebar”.
2. Once the spotlight box opens, type “remove sophos” in the text field. This should open the uninstaller.
3. From this point you will need a “Tamper Protection Password”. To get one of those, you will need to contact ITS such as Jarrod Hipps or Justin Beeks. Supply them with the machine hostname and they can get the password for you. The passwords are usually good for 24 hours so you need to request one when you are ready to uninstall.
4. Once you receive the password, go ahead and navigate through the uninstaller and enter in the password. It will uninstall fairly quickly.
5. After it is uninstalled, reboot and then navigate again to the self service page and re-install Sophos as instructed previously.
