New undergraduate domestic students at Wichita State University are required to attend an orientation session. International students will need to contact the International Education Office for information about orientation requirements. Students enrolled in a fully online program will have a different Orientation and can find more information here.
Below are the steps for undergraduate domestic students to sign up for Orientation:
1. Go to wichita.edu/orientation
2. Select the Sign up for Orientation button
3. Select the appropriate orientation link – there are three options:
• Freshman
º Graduated from high school in December of the previous calendar year or will graduate in May of the current calendar year
º Are under 21 years old
• Transfer
º Under 21 years of age
º Transferring more than 24 credit hours from at least one other institution
º Graduated from high school more than one year ago
• Adult Learner
º Over the age of 21
º Have less than 24 credit hours
4. Click the link RSVP for Orientation button
5. Sign on using your myWSU ID and password
6. Click Begin
7. Confirm that your major is correct prior to continuing
Note: If your major is incorrect, please email the Registrar’s Office at majorchange@wichita.edu to request an update to your major. Major changes take 2-3 business days. Once you receive confirmation of the updated major via email, you can proceed with registering for Orientation.
8. Select the Orientation program you wish to attend
Note: There is a charge to attend Orientation as well as a charge per guest (limit of two guests). Please see your Orientation materials to view the applicable charges
9. Click Review RSVP and confirm all is correct
10. Click Continue to proceed to the enrollment questionnaire
11. Once you have completed all required questions, click Save and Continue
12. You will see a confirmation page once you have completed your RSVP for Orientation as well as if you log back in to the Orientation site

Orientation is held in the Rhatigan Student Center.
Next Steps:
Freshman Students
Your First-Year Advisor will build a schedule based on the answers provided in your enrollment questionnaire. An email will be sent to your @shockers.wichita.edu address as well as any primary email listed on our system with instructions on how to view your schedule. Once the email is generated, you will have two (2) weeks to log in to your myWSU portal to accept the schedule or deny it and request the advisor to contact you for possible changes. Once accepted, you are officially enrolled in classes and financially responsible for them.
Transfer Students and Adult Learners
You will need to be meet with an academic advisor in your college if you have not done so already to hold your Shocker Connection appointment and enroll in classes. Please visit wichita.edu/advising for contact information and the location of your college academic advising office.
If you need to change your Orientation session, you will need to contact the Office of First-Year Programs at 316-978-5420.
