How do I accept/reduce/decline my financial aid offer?

Body

Deadline: The deadline to accept your financial aid is 14 days from the date of the email notification of your award offer notice.

You may accept/reduce/decline your financial aid offer by:

  • Step 1: Access your myWSU Account
    • Log into myWSU.wichita.edu using your myWSU ID number and password. Select the myFinances tab.
  • Step 2: Read the Financial Aid Terms & Conditions
    • Go to the Financial Aid Dashboard under Financial Aid Links and select the academic year noted in your letter/email. Select the Terms and Conditions tab and read the requirements for your aid. The Financial Aid Terms and Conditions are also available online at wichita.edu/finaidpolicy.
  • Step 3: Accept Award Offer
    • Select the Offer tab to view and decide on your offer. Use the drop-down menu under Accept Award to select your decision for each type of financial aid. Accepted load amounts will be split equally between the fall and spring semesters. If you would like to accept a partial amount of a student loan, enter the amount next to the appropriate load under Accept Partial Amount. After deciding on your offer, select Choose Decision.
  • Step 4: Complete your Loan Requirements
    • If you are accepting subsidized and/or unsubsidized student loans for the first time at Wichita State University, complete your Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (Loan Agreements) and Loan Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov. Please allow 2 business days after items are received for the status to be updated.

Please note, declining or reducing an award offer can only occur if the award(s) have not already disbursed to your account.

Keep in mind scholarship awards must be accepted by the appropriate deadlines. Students should always refer to their scholarship award letter for specific acceptance instructions as some scholarship have additional requirements, such as enrollment deadlines.

If you are unable to accept your offer, it may be because you are a student athlete or a National Merit Scholar. If this applies to you, you will need to complete the Financial Aid Revision Request. Click here for instructions on how to complete the form.
