What is your grading scale and how will it impact my GPA?

Body

Grading Scale:
Wichita State utilizes a plus/minus grading scale which is shown below. Grade points are given for each grade.

A: 4.00
A-: 3.70
B+: 3.30
B: 3.00
B-: 2.70
C+: 2.30
C: 2.00
C-: 1.70
D+: 1.30
D: 1.00
D-: 0.70
F: 0

Your GPA is computed by dividing the total number of grade points by the total number of semester hours completed for which a letter grade is assigned.

Example:
3 hours of B+ = 9.9 Grade Points (3 x 3.3 = 9.9)
4 hours of A- = 14.8 Grade Points (4 x 3.7 = 14.8)
(9.9 + 14.8 = 24.7 Grade Points/7 hours = 3.529 GPA)

Only graded courses will have an impact on your GPA. Courses numbered 099 or below are considered preparatory (remedial) coursework. No credit is earned, and they do not count toward any Wichita State degree program or graduation. The following grades are always excluded from grade point average computations: Au (Audit), W (Withdraw), I (Incomplete), IP (In Process), Cr (Credit), NCr (No Credit), S (Satisfactory), U (Unsatisfactory), CrE (Credit by Exam), Bg (Badge) and NBg (No Badge). Any hours where the grade is preceded by a “Z” do not count in computing the GPA.

Note: Grades will not be given over the phone.
