What happens if I am late paying my tuition? Is there a fee for paying late?

Body

Wichita State charges a $100 late fee when you have an account balance from tuition, enrollment related fees, or housing charges of $150 or more in the current semester.

Late fees will be assessed on the first business day after the published payment due date during the following months for tuition and fees, and again ninety (90) calendar days into the current semester (fall and spring only).

Spring semester = January and April
Summer semester = June only
Fall semester = August and November

The payment due date for tuition and enrollment related fees will coincide with the Financial Aid Office’s recalculation date, the Registrar’s Office late enrollment date, and the Financial Operations’ Office 16-week 100 percent refund date. The payment due date for housing charges is stated in the housing contract.

Please note each semester is assessed individually. There will never be more than two late fees charged to your account for the semester in which you have an overdue balance. Transcript services will not be withheld for any student with a financial hold. Holds on further enrollment and release of diplomas will be put in place for students with delinquent accounts. Such holds will remain in place until the hold has been resolved.

  • If you have pending financial aid that will leave an account balance of less than $150, you will not be assessed the late fee.
  • If you have pending financial aid that will leave an account balance of $150 or more, the late fee will be assessed.

Late fees may sometimes be waived but this will vary depending on each student’s circumstances. Please email wsuaccountsreceivable@wichita.edu with your request, justification for your request, your name and myWSU ID. Once your request has been reviewed by a committee, you will be contacted via your WSU email account.
