How do I add a Minor to My Degree?

If you're wanting to change your minor, or add a minor to your degree, follow these steps.

Note: We strongly recommend contacting your academic advisor before submitting a request. They can help you:

  • Identify any potential conflicts
  • Understand timelines for completion
  • Choose courses that may fulfill multiple degree requirements

You should also contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine how adding a minor may impact your awards or eligibility.

  1. Log in to your MyWSU portal.
  2. From the Home tab, navigate to the Student Tools section.
  3. Select “Change My Major/Minor.”


From here you will be directed to the program change request page.

  1. Select “Continue”
  2. In the second scroll list under the “Change current to” column, select the minor you wish to add. Note that the lists are in alphabetical order and not organized by college.

  1. Once you’ve selected your new minor, click “Continue”. You will be asked why you are changing your minor, select an option and click "Submit Request".
  2. Once your request has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email to your student email with your updated minor.
