Conditional admission is available for all international applicants, provided you meet our academic requirements for admission. Due to changes in federal law, we can no longer issue conditional I-20s for your academic major; all conditional I-20s will have a major of Intensive English. If you are admissible to an academic program, that information will be added to the remarks statement of your I-20.
Undergraduate
You are not required to apply to our ESL program. If granted conditional admission, you must sit for the English Proficiency Exam (EPE) after arrival in Wichita. If you pass, you will begin full-time academic study in your major. If you do not pass the exam, you must study in Intensive English until you meet the undergraduate English requirement. For more information about the undergraduate English requirement visit wichita.edu/toefl.
Graduate
Conditional admission refers to admission without the required English score only. If the GRE or GMAT is required by the department for admission, you must take that examination and submit scores in order to be considered for admission. No exceptions are made to those requirements.
If you are offered admission, you must submit any remaining materials, including Certification of Financial Support, any other missing materials, and proof of English proficiency. If you have not met our English proficiency requirement, you may take the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE. You must achieve the necessary score by the deadline for the semester you have applied for, or you may apply for our Intensive English Program. No I-20 will be issued until all materials have been submitted and: 1) you have met the required scores (TOEFL, IELTS or PTE) or 2) applied to the Intensive English Program.
