I received an outside scholarship. What do I need to do to ensure it is applied to my account?

Outside scholarship checks are either made payable to Wichita State University, WSU, or co-payable to you and WSU. All scholarship checks need to be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for processing. If the check is co-payable to you, please endorse the check. Beginning July 1 of each year, the scholarships are credited to your WSU account within 5-10 business days after receipt.

Scholarship checks can be mailed to:

Office of Financial Aid
Attn: Scholarships
1845 Fairmount, Box 24
Wichita, KS 67260-0024

Scholarship checks from private foundations or organizations must be made payable to Wichita State University. Have the sponsor include the following information with the check:

  • Student's full name
  • Student's myWSU ID number
  • Semester or academic year and number of hours that the payment covers
  • Sponsor's full address printed on the check

If the time frame has passed and you do not see an award, you will need to contact the Financial Aid Office first (to confirm the information has been received). If the Financial Aid Office confirms the information hasn't been received, then you will need to contact the Scholarship Donor to ensure the information is sent.

If the amount will cause a refundable balance that will be payable to you, please allow for processing time for those funds to be issued:

  • 3 to 5 business days if the funds will be sent via direct deposit
  • 5 to 7 business days if a check will be sent by mail

To set up direct deposit, please visit your Student Account Suite through the myWSU student portal.
