Students are formally placed (or continued) on academic probation at the conclusion of every semester in which their cumulative or overall WSU grade point average falls below the minimum required for their program.
If you are placed on academic probation, you will be limited to a maximum of 12 credit hours (or four courses if enrolling in a course with lab) in both the fall and spring semesters. Probation is removed when both your cumulative and WSU grade point averages reach the minimum required for your academic program.
You will remain on academic probation as long as your cumulative or WSU GPA is below the minimum university or college graduation standard and your semester GPA meets the minimum college or division standard. If you do not meet the minimum GPA for your college the following semester, you are subject to being academically dismissed from the college and university. You would then have to petition to be readmitted.
The minimum GPA required for each college is:
College of Business: 2.25
College of Applied Studies: 2.50
College of Engineering: 2.0
College Health Professionals: 2.0
College of Fine Arts: 2.0
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: 2.0
Note: There are some majors that have higher GPA requirements.
