Why didn't I get a 1098-T?

The University is not required to furnish a 1098-T for the following reasons:

  1. Students whose qualified tuition and related expenses are entirely waived or paid entirely with grants and scholarships.
  2. Students who take classes where no academic credit is offered even if the student is otherwise enrolled in a degree program (e.g. non-credit course).
  3. Students who are non resident aliens for income tax purposes (unless requested by the student).
  4. Students for whom Wichita State University does not maintain a separate financial account information and whose qualified tuition and related expenses are covered by a formal billing arrangement between the university and either the student's employer or a governmental entity, such as the Department of Veteran Affairs.
  5. Students who did not enroll for the calendar year. Example: For 2020 1098-T, if not enrolled for Spring 2020 or Summer 2020 or Fall 2020, student will not receive a 1098-T.

There are other reasons why a student may not have received the 1098-T form:

  1. Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) is missing or invalid.
  2. Invalid or missing mailing address.
  3. High school or apprentice student.
