Tuition assistance may be offered through the various branches of the military. For information on these programs, you should contact the Education Office of your unit. The Veterans Benefit Service does not process any paperwork relating to the tuition assistance.
Wichita State University (WSU) will invoice outside organizations/sponsors for charges which the sponsor has agreed to pay in support of a student. This process is called Third Party Contract. To be considered for the Third Party process, you must forward a voucher or company form to Accounts Receivable. For more information on Third Party Billing, contact WSU's Accounts Receivable department.

Steps to Apply
Members of a Kansas Air or Army National Guard unit should apply online at the Kansas Board of Regents website.
- Once the application has been completed, the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) will inform Wichita State University of approved tuition assistance and you will receive a letter from KBOR directly (be aware KBOR approves students, not WSU)
- Our business process is to apply the assistance to all course related tuition and fees
- Late in the semester, KBOR will provide WSU with the percentage of tuition and fees that the assistance will cover
- The percentage is determined by the number of eligible students and available appropriations
Federal Military Tuition Assistance
Military Tuition Assistance is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Congress has given each service the ability to pay up to 100% for the tuition expenses of its members.
Eligibility
Each service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process and restrictions. This money is usually paid directly to the institution by the individual services. Additionally active duty members may elect to use the MGIB "top-up" in addition to their service provided tuition assistance to cover high cost courses. Tuition assistance is not a loan; it should be viewed as money you have earned just like your base pay.
Steps to Apply
Complete the required tuition assistance paperwork available through your respective military portal.
