Appeal a Parking or Traffic Citation
If you receive a parking or traffic citation and wish to appeal, the appeal must be received within 20 calendar days from the date the ticket was issued. Once the appeal has been submitted, please allow up to 10 business days for the decision to be emailed to you.
Parking appeals are not allowed after the 20-day period. If the deadline has passed to appeal, students can contact the student advocate at 316-978-3026 or by email at student.advocate@wichita.edu and faculty/staff and visitors can email wsuparking@wichita.edu.
Appeals should only be filed if a legitimate basis exists. The following reasons are not considered a legitimate basis for filing an appeal:
- Disagreement with the WSU traffic regulations
- Ignorance of the regulations
- Stated inability to find a permitted parking space
- Operation of the vehicle by another individual
- Failure to issue citations previously for similar violations
- Tardiness to class and/or appointment
- Inability to pay fine
- Received incorrect verbal information from a non-Wichita State University Parking employee
- Observing others illegally parked
Citations issued to vehicles will normally be assigned to the registered owner via DMV records. However, if the registered owner is a family member of a WSU student, faculty member, or staff member, the citation will be assigned to the WSU student, faculty member, or staff member.
