What counseling services are offered at Wichita State University?

Counseling & Psychological Services at WSU provides personal and mental health counseling to students, faculty, and staff of the university. Services are completely confidential and very low cost. Individual, couples, and group counseling modes are available. All counselors are licensed mental health professionals. The center has a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a psychiatrist on staff for limited hours. Psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up are available for current clients only and must be coordinated through one's counselor.

We recognize that some students may not be able to come to the main campus for appointments. In those situations, we will be happy to consult with you over the phone about your needs and specific situation in order to provide appropriate referral options for the area in which you live. Online screening tools for a number of mental health conditions and educational materials about a variety of topics are available on our website.

We provide 24/7 crisis services to students living in campus housing. Students not living in campus housing should call your local crisis hotline or 911 if dealing with a mental health emergency occurring outside our regular business hours. For residents of Sedgwick County, COMCARE Crisis Services is available after hours at 316-660-7500.
