How are tuition rates determined?

Residency
Resident Tuition
Kansas residents will pay resident rates. If you have questions about residency requirements, visit www.wichita.edu/residency.

Non-Resident Tuition
Non-residents of Kansas will pay a different rate than Kansas residents. Non-resident tuition is displayed on your bill as a separate line item indicating only the additional charge for non-resident tuition. The total of the two lines combined on your bill (Resident and Non-Resident) is your non-resident rate for tuition.

International Tuition

  • Undergraduate International students pay non-resident tuition at the undergraduate rate. International tuition is displayed on your bill as a separate line item indicating only the additional charge for non-resident tuition. The total of the two lines combined on your bill (Resident and International) are your international rate for tuition. For additional information about undergraduate tuition, please visit these websites:
  • Graduate International students will pay the same tuition as a non-resident student at the graduate rate. International tuition is displayed on your bill as a separate line item indicating only the additional charge for non-resident tuition. The total of the two lines combined on your bill (Resident and International) are your graduate international rate for tuition.

Note: All international students will be charged for health insurance unless you are able to show proof of private insurance. For more information and deadlines on the required health insurance for international students, click here.

Course Level

  • Courses numbered 001-499 are charged undergraduate fees regardless of the student classification.
  • Courses numbered 500-799 are charged either undergraduate or graduate fees depending on the student classification (i.e. undergraduates taking a 700 level class are charged undergraduate fees. Graduates taking a 600 level class are charged graduate fees).
  • Courses numbered 800 and above are charged graduate fees.
  • If you are being charged graduate rates for one of your classes, more than likely you are enrolled in a workshop. To verify this, your course number will end in 50, 51, 52, etc. (i.e. CI550, CI651, or CI752). Although your bill may indicate graduate tuition, the price of all workshops are calculated at the undergraduate resident rate.
