  • After you've submitted all application materials, allow at least two weeks for the Office of Admissions to process those items and alert you regarding your admission decision.
  • Students who are admitted will be notified via email and a mailed admission letter.
  • Students who are not admissible will be notified via mailed letter and the admissions exceptions process - with the steps to apply for admission by exception - will be included in that mailing.

You will be emailed once a decision has been made. You can also check your status at Login (wichita.edu)

Official notification of the application decision is made by the Graduate School through email. Admitted international students will receive their I-20 by mail, or by express mail if the express mail fee was paid. When a decision has been made, it can be viewed in student application portal - slate.wichita.edu/apply/ at any time.

You will be sent an email whenever we receive application materials and after we have reviewed your application. You should expect to receive a decision from Wichita State University in approximately two weeks after the Office of Admissions receives all of the necessary application materials including (but not limited to) the admission application, application fee and official transcripts from all previous colleges.

High school students will need to submit an official high school transcript with graduation date. If the high school does not include your ACT/SAT scores, you will also need to have those official results sent directly to WSU.

In general, transcripts are posted to your WSU record within four (4) weeks of receipt by the Registrar’s Office. Please note that the four week timeframe begins when the Registrar’s Office receives the transcripts, not when the university receives it (through Admissions, International Admissions, etc.). This time can be longer during high volume periods, including before the start of each term.

After your transcript and other application materials have been received and entered into our system, you will be sent an automated email message letting you know that your application has arrived. Depending on our current volume of applications, this may be a few days after your application materials arrive on campus. The processing time is based on the service level you paid for:

  • Basic Level: 5 to 6 weeks processing time plus 3 to 5 weeks for mailing
  • Standard Level: 2 to 3 weeks processing time plus 4 days for delivery by DHL
  • Premium Level: 3 days guaranteed plus 4 days for delivery by DHL

If you have started or submitted an application to Wichita State University's Graduate School, you can check your application status, see what you have uploaded or still need to upload to complete your application, view your decision, and find communications from the Graduate School Admissions staff by logging into slate.wichita.edu/apply/.

The processing time for graduate applicants varies significantly and can take anywhere from a few days to a few months. Departmental reviews begin when the department receives the complete application and materials from the applicant. This review may require several days or weeks depending upon the review cycle of the program area and the completeness of the application materials.

To determine the application requirements for the program you wish to apply for, click here and follow the steps and instructions.

Factors affecting the processing time include:

  • Materials are missing so application is not complete
  • Application and supporting materials received near a deadline can increase processing time due to the volume of applications received at the same time
  • The program to which you are applying evaluates applications on a rolling basis, or waits until a deadline has passed to evaluate all applicants
  • The program to which you are applying has not received all required supporting materials, such as test scores, letters of recommendation, etc.

If you do not receive the email or have specific questions regarding the status of your admission, please contact the appropriate Admissions office.
