How do I apply for admission? Is there a deadline?

Undergraduate
All students should apply early, prior to the semester they want to begin taking classes. Wichita State has a rolling admissions policy for incoming students (except high school guests) which means applications are processed as they are received. Applications are accepted for the fall, spring and summer semesters.

US Citizen and Permanent Resident Students
To apply for admission, follow these steps:

  1. Apply for admission by visiting wichita.edu/apply or in person at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the Marcus Welcome Center
  2. Submit the non-refundable admission application fee
  3. Submit all previous college transcripts officially to WSU if applicable

Official high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission but will be required after completing high school. Visit https://www.wichita.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transcriptsprocedures.php to learn more about how WSU will accept your transcript.

Students should expect to receive a decision from WSU within two (2) weeks after the Office of Admissions receives all of the necessary application materials.

Application fee waivers or deferments
The application fee must be paid in order for your file to be complete and processed. There are a limited number of application fee waivers available for undergraduate (US Citizen and Permanent Resident) students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. To be considered for a fee waiver, students must submit a complete application for admission along with a signed application fee form signed by a high school counselor.

Prospective students for the Graduate School who were part of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program as undergraduate students may also receive a fee waiver for your graduate school application. For those applying online, contact the Graduate School at 316-978-3095 option 2 to request a “Promo Code” or "Fee Waiver Code" for the application fee waiver. McNair Scholars will be required to provide a fee waiver letter (supplied by your McNair Scholars office) to support your waiver of the application fee.
