How do I grant a third party access to my student information?

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Wichita State University cannot provide information about your records to a third party without your consent (see exceptions to this at www.wichita.edu/FERPA).

To allow others (referred to as proxies) limited viewing access to your academic and/or financial aid records, you can complete a Proxy Authorization online. You may also authorize WSU to discuss these items with the proxy. Options include your grades, schedule of classes, financial aid information, and more.

You are in control of who has proxy access, what they can see, what they can discuss with WSU, and for how long they have this access.

Proxies can be parents, employers or other specified individuals, and they must have a valid email address to be granted access. The same email address cannot be used more than once (i.e. each parent cannot establish a login with the same email address). Once the setup is complete, the proxy will receive email instructions on how to access a separate, secure online portal.

Academic and Financial Aid Records
If you wish to allow the release of non-directory information to parents, employers, or other specified individuals, go to wichita.edu/proxy and follow the instructions provided.

Student Accounts
You can set up an Authorized User in your Student Account Suite so that someone else can pay or view your bill (click here for instructions). Please note that making someone an Authorized User is not the same as providing them with Proxy Access. Authorized users do not have access to your stored payment methods, academic records, or other personal information.
