You can drop or withdraw from some or all classes using the drop/add option in your myWSU portal.
- A drop is a course that has been dropped within the 100% refund period and will not appear on your academic record.
- A withdrawal is a course that has been dropped after the 100% refund period and will appear on your academic record as a "W." This does not impact your GPA. The withdrawal period runs through the 10th week of classes for full-term courses.
IMPORTANT: When changing sections, replacing a course, etc. please review Do I have to pay for a class if I drop and add classes at the same time? for more information on how to avoid additional charges.
Partial or complete withdrawals require the student to drop each course via the online system at mywsu.wichita.edu. Any refunds owed to you will be used to offset any financial obligations you may have at the university. If your financial aid paid all or part of your costs, all or a portion of any refund goes back to that financial aid source. The Office of the Registrar is the office designated to process withdrawals submitted via the online registration system.
To drop or withdraw from course(s), please follow these steps:
- Log into your myWSU portal
- Go to myClasses tab
- Click on Student Registration (Banner 9) in the Registration Tools box.

- Click on Register / Drop / View My Schedule
- Select Term and Continue
- In the Summary box in the lower right-hand corner, click in the Action box next to the class you wish to drop and choose an option
- Web Drop - will not appear on your schedule or transcript
- Web Withdrawal with a "W" (if prior to the deadline to withdraw) - will display the course(s) on your schedule and transcript
- Web Withdraw with an "F" (if deadline to withdraw has passed - please make certain this is the option you want to choose before submitting changes) - will display the course(s) on your schedule or transcript.
- Click Submit
If you are withdrawing from all of your classes, or your last class after the last day to drop with 100% refund for a 16-week class, you will receive the following error message:

You will need to go to www.wichita.edu/exitform and complete exit survey. You will be contacted about your withdrawal within 2 business days of submitting the required exit form. The withdrawal date is the date the exit form is submitted; therefore, it is important to submit this form as soon as possible as it may impact refunds, loans, etc.
There are two time frames for when complete drops or withdrawals, even including classes that have not started yet, will be prevented:
- During the spring, complete drops or withdrawals cannot be completed between the day after the 100% refund period for 16-week classes and the day after the last day to withdraw with a ‘W’ for 16-week courses.
- During the fall, complete drops or withdrawals cannot be completed starting the first day of 16-week classes. The ability to completely drop all classes is allowed for the last day to drop with 100% refund. Complete drops or withdrawals cannot be completed again between the day after the 100% refund period for 16-week classes and the day after the last day to withdraw with a ‘W’ for 16-week classes.
This process is only applicable to Fall and Spring semesters.

If you are dropping and adding classes at the same time, you can click in the Conditional Add and Drop box which will confirm there will be no issues in adding a class before dropping a class.
